چکیده

The geochemistry and mineralogy of sediments provide relevant information for the understanding origin metallogenic mechanism ferromanganese nodules crusts. At present, there are still few studies on sediment Clarion–Clipperton Zone (CCZ) east Pacific, particularly systematic with a longer history/length. Here, bulk clay mineral compositions were analyzed 5.7 m gravity core (GC04) obtained at CCZ, an area rich in polymetallic nodules. results indicate that average total content rare earth elements (REE), including yttrium (REY), is 454.7 ppm REEs distribution patterns normalized by North American Shale Composite samples highly consistent, all showing negative Ce anomalies more obvious enrichment heavy REE (HREE) than light (LREE). Montmorillonite/illite ratio, discriminant functions smear slide identification multiple origins material, strongly influenced contributions from marine biomass, while terrestrial materials, seamount basalts their alteration products authigenic source also make certain contributions. REY characteristics study different those marginal oceanic back-arc basins, similar to pelagic deep-sea sediments. Based LREE/HREE-1/?Ce LREE/HREE-Y/Ho diagrams, we conclude had sedimentary properties which suffered strong “seawater effect”.

Geochemistry of Rare Earth Element in garnet group minerals in some regional metamorphic complexes - Central Iran Micro-Continent (CIMC)

This study focuses on the amount and concentration of trace elements and REEs pattern in garnet crystals which experienced regional metamorphism in the central Iran micro-continent, including the areas of Deh-Salm, Zaman Abad, Mishdowan, and Tanbour. Generally, garnet crystals are isolated from mica schists of greenschist to amphibolite facies. Mineralogical composition of garnets shows almandi...

Surface geochemistry of the clay minerals.

Clay minerals are layer type aluminosilicates that figure in terrestrial biogeochemical cycles, in the buffering capacity of the oceans, and in the containment of toxic waste materials. They are also used as lubricants in petroleum extraction and as industrial catalysts for the synthesis of many organic compounds. These applications derive fundamentally from the colloidal size and permanent str...

Geochemistry of the Paleocene Sediments from SW Ahar: Implications for Provenance, Tectonics and Source Rock Weathering

The mineralogy and geochemistry of Paleocene shales and interbedded siltstones in the southwestern of Ahar town (NW Iran) were studied by optical microscopy, XRD, SEM, XRF, and ICP-MS techniques. The mineralogical composition, mainly characterized by calcite, quartz, feldspar, dolomite, muscovite, magnesiohornblende, chlorite, illite, montmorionite, palygorskite, and koninckite, suggests relati...

Trace Element Geochemistry of Biogenic Sediments from the Western Equatorial Pacific

Twenty-seven surface samples ofbiogenic sediment, including radiolarian, nannofossil, and foraminiferal oozes from the Western Equatorial Pacific have been analyzed for potassium, magnesium, iron, rubidium, strontium, barium, chromium, cobalt, nickel, copper, and zinc by rapid instrumental techniques. Interelement associations have been evaluated with the use of a computer-compiled matrix of co...
